The Western Cape is not seeing a substantial increase in Covid-19 infections. This is according to the office of Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, who is warning citizens of fake news messages being shared on social media which claim that the infection rate had again increased in the province.
According to the fake news messages the province and certain Western Cape hospitals are seeing a sharp increase of Coronavirus cases. Winde is calling on residents to not share the news. He emphasised that the
province continues to record an average test positivity rate below 10 percent, while COVID-19 hospital admissions currently make up just 5% of our total hospital admissions in the province. There are also currently only 23 people admitted at the Brackengate Hospital of Hope.
New COVID-19 infections, deaths and hospitalisations continue to decline in the Western Cape. While this is good news for the Province, the Premier is cautioning those in the Western Cape to remain vigilant and continue to do everything possible to prevent a rise in Covid-19 infections in the future.
