Creating active kids

Anyone who’s seen kids on a playground knows that most are naturally physically active and love to move around. But what might not be apparent is that climbing to the top of a slide or swinging from the monkey bars can help lead kids to a lifetime of being active. With South Africa’s alarmingly high level of obesity among children (a combined overweight and obesity prevalence of 13.5% in children aged 6–14 years, which is higher than the 10% global prevalence in schoolchildren) its sometimes difficult to get children off the couches and into enjoying active physical play.

But wellness coach Christopher Smith says its easier than what parents think and suggests making active play fun, which can get the parents physically active too….
