WHO calls for governments to invest more in public health

The World Health Organization has stressed that governments around the world must invest more in public health.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize shared some of South Africa’s key experiences in managing the COVID-19 pandemic and how these will help shape the country’s health reform agenda.

WHO regional director Matshidiso Moeti has pointed out that out of the 448 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered worldwide, only 11 million have been in Africa.

Moeti stressed that national systems needed to be better prepared to prevent and respond to the next pandemic.
