Cosatu worried about governments slow pace of vaccine rollout

Cosatu says it is worried about government’s pronouncements of a vaccine programme that lacked implementation.

Following its special central executive committee meeting, Cosatu raised concerns over the ANC government’s ability to meet its own targets, flagging that only 280,000 out of the country’s 1.25 million healthcare workers had been vaccinated so far. It says that while it had noted the announcement from

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, of the country having secured more vaccines, it’s alarmed by the slow pace of the rollout.

Meanwhile…. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that the country would definitely receive a batch of over a million vaccines from Johnson & Johnson before the end of the month.

He was speaking in Soweto while inspecting vaccination sites in Gauteng yesterday. This was ahead of the second phase of the vaccination campaign.
